Introduction

With broad experience acquired in the disciplinary fields of Man-Machine Interaction, the LSI teams’ research is currently working on a promising technology involving a contactless interaction system controlled by forefinger movement. Air Mouse involves the use of a finger placed over the keyboard to interact with an application in bi or tri-dimensional space. Its numerous qualities make it easily adaptable to many different applications.

LSI partners with the ESA to develop a manual on the toughening of integrated circuits against radiation

The ESA has entrusted the ARIS team from the TIMA laboratory and Floralis with the creation of a manual on techniques for toughening integrated circuits against space radiation.

By car:
If you are coming from the direction of Lyon or Valence on the A48: follow the Rocade Sud in the direction of "Chambéry". Take exit number 1 "Domaine Universitaire". At the first roundabout, take the third exit. At the second roundabout, go straight on. At the third roundabout, take the first exit just before the Hippopotamus restaurant. You will then see the CTL building made of red bricks on your right. Go around the left of the building (follow the signs for "CTL"). Use the car park in front of the building.

If you are coming from the direction of Chambéry on the A41: take the Rocade Sud in the direction of "Domaine Universitaire". Take exit number 1 "Domaine Universitaire". Immediately get into the right-hand lane, which avoids the roundabout. At the next roundabout, take the first exit just before the Hippopotamus restaurant. You will then see the CTL building made of red bricks on your right. Go around the left of the building (follow the signs for "CTL"). Use the car park in front of the building.

If you are coming from the University Campus: turn towards the entrance to the Rocade Sud by exit number 3 in the direction of "Rocade Sud". After passing the tennis courts, you will come to a roundabout – take the third exit just before the Hippopotamus restaurant. You will then see the CTL building made of red bricks on your right. Go around the left of the building (follow the signs for "CTL"). Use the car park in front of the building.

COLLABORATION BETWEEN GIPSA AND SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC

LSI Carnot (GIPSA Laboratory) and Schneider Electric are working together to develop algorithms for the optimisation of comfort and energy in buildings. This collaboration reflects the themes of the HOMES Programme (2008-2012), which groups together 14 partners centred around Schneider Electric to work on solutions for comfort and energy control that are accessible to everyone.

COMMERCIALISATION OF VIGI'FALL – THE RESULT OF A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN LSI AND THE SME VIGILIO

Vigilio S.A. is a young medical equipment company working on developing and commercialising innovative and reliable telemedical solutions, intended to secure the safety and security of endusers.
Vigilio launched Vigi'Fall®, a biomedical device that detects if elderly people have had a fall. The innovative Vigi'Fall® concept is based on the principle of verification through multidimensional contextual analysis, which as of yet has no international equivalent.

At national level, various issues have arisen in the last few years: reduced spending on healthcare, an increase in the number of dependants (disabled people, the elderly), a decrease in healthcare staff and a lack of healthcare facilities in certain areas.
These issues are the driving force behind a number of initiatives nationwide, such as the Plan Solidarité Grand Age 2007-2012 (Old Age Solidarity Plan), the Plan Alzheimer (2008-2012), and the Dossier Médical Personnalisé (Electronic Medical Record).

Transport
Inside a vehicle, as with traffic control systems, smart technology has been integrated onboard to ensure performance, safety, energy consumption, and comfort. Smart technologies in the form of soft or hardware comes into play from the design of the electronic components up to the interaction of the vehicle with its driver in ever more complex driving environments.
Ranked 2nd and 3rd place for the usage of sensors in Europe, the automobile and aeronautical sectors depend on more and more advanced integration of embedded systems and software.

System Design
The design of embedded systems is crucial in fields linked to electronics. Whether it is a matter of developing an ASIC, a multi-core chip, an automated system or a sensor network , design tools and methods are essential to guarantee the final performance of the product. The test and validation stages in particular represent more than 60% of the whole design process for an electronic system.
